F.L.Y – First, Love Yourself.

Whatever your relationship status, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean what you think.

This year we are all about the self love, and that’s the true version of #relationshipgoals

It’s easy to get wrapped up in comparing yourself to others, whether that’s in terms of career, looks, or your love life. But we say, this Valentine’s it’s time for a change, it’s time to stop comparing and start treating yourself better.

We think the most important relationship you work on should be the one with yourself, so here are 5 ways you can show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day!

 

1. Do something by yourself

You’ll be surprised how much you enjoy it. Instead of the usual every day activities you end up doing alone,  (laundry, making your dinner,  watching TV by yourself), make a real date. Visit an art gallery, go for a coffee, take a walk, be present with yourself and do something fun without the distraction of anyone else.

2.  Spa night

Spend sometime in a hot bubble bath with a good book, and a glass of wine. Giving yourself time to relax and feel pampered makes such a difference to your wellbeing and overall happiness. Give yourself a mani-pedi, pop a face mask on, and rock a dressing gown all evening – no distractions!

3. Do a social media detox

We know, we know it’s an uncomfortable thought – what if someone tags you in a funny meme? You won’t be able to immediately respond with the ‘crying laughing face’ – nightmare! But a lot of the time we don’t even realise how the constant highlight reel of our peers can be affecting our esteem and mood. Set yourself some time where you don’t check your phone, Facebook, Instagram and the rest, and stick to it. Spend the time doing something for you.

4. Eat right

Make sure you are feeding your body with the right foods and not just getting something because it’s quick and easy. We are all for everything in moderation, if you want that pizza, don’t deny yourself, but don’t just get it because it’s easier than cooking something delicious yourself. Make a meal, sit at the table and eat it properly, enjoy your food and you’ll feel good – we promise.

 

5. Treat yourself

Don’t depend on anyone else to bring you happiness. If you want something, go get it. That applies to little treats as well. If there’s a perfume you like, a bracelet, a pair of shoes or new book you want, get it for yourself. Don’t hint, don’t hope, show yourself you mean business and treat yourself like you would your closest friend or partner. It’s the little treats in life that keep you smiling as well as the big important things, so if you want it, get it!
